Abstract

Since the pandemic covid-19, the government decided to implement online learning to prevent the spread of the virus. It made freshmen students batch of 2020 and 2021 start their study by online. Later, in the 2022/2023 academic year, the government re-opens schools, and learning activities could be held offline. The change in learning modes caused students pros and contra, especially for English Education Department in Universitas Nasional Karangturi.
Therefore, this issue makes the writer do research about PBI students’ perceptions towards the change in their learning from online to offline. There are two research questions in this study; the first is “What do students feel in their mode of learning from completely online to offline?” and the second is “What do students expect to be the suitable learning mode that suits their needs?” In order to answer those questions, the researcher collects data using two methods, spreading a questionnaire about perception and doing interviews with the participants. The source of this research is taken from 8 PBI students’ batch of 2020 and 2021. The researcher only chooses that group due to their background which is never experienced face-to-face classes in higher education before.
From the obtained data, students' perceptions of online and offline learning have both positive and negative impacts, they need to face the change with an adaptation. Then, to fulfill their education needs, blended learning can be
considered.
